Hello Customer (name blocked for privacy),

What the "S"-light is telling you is that the transmission control unit (TCM) has detected an electrical fault in the system. If you pull back the passenger's carpet at the front edge, you should be able to see the TCM fault indicator light. With the key on it will blink a trouble code for you.

I check the tranission computer to if anything is wrong with it. I check the wires by the strut towers and connections.

OK, here's what the blinks are telling us:

  • 1 blink= indicates a problem in the torque converter lock-up system.
  • 2 blinks= also indicates a problem with the torque converter lock-up.
  • 4 blinks= indicates a problem with the vehicle speed sensor (VSS).
  • 8 blinks= indicates a problem in shift control solenoid B.

The last trouble code (8 blinks) would have resulted in the vehicle being stuck in a certain gear and not shifting into any other gears. You didn't mention any true shift concerns, therefore I'd kinda ignore this one for now. The first 3 trouble codes would all be related, but 4 blinks is the one that I'd be most concerned with. If the transmission control module doesn't know the vehicle's speed, it cannot determine when to lock-up the torque converter (torque converter lock-up is a way for the vehicle to more efficiently use the engine's power). It would seem to me that your vehicle speed sensor has stopped working, therefore you have no speedometer reading and the torque converter lock-up system has been disabled by the computer. You can clear all the trouble codes by removing the 7.5A back-up fuse from the underhood fuse box for about 10 seconds and reinstalling it (or just disconnect the negative battery cable).

If you need any further assistance with this concern, just reply to this post.

And again, if the information that I've provided you with is helpful to you, I would appreciate you clicking on the ACCEPT button and feedback is always helpful to me. Thanks!
