My 2000 Insight just stopped running while traveling at highway speed. Engine turns over but will not start. Fuel system appears to be functioning (can hear fuel pump and fuel present at rail). I pulled the valve cover and the timing chain appears to be OK. I don''t know enough about this car to even check for spark. Any ideas?

Optional Information:
2000 Honda Insight 1 liter

Already Tried:
checked for broken timing chain and fuel related challenges (including pump operation).

The check engine light has been on for years (thought it was an oxygen sensor deal that I would "get around to").
I don't know how to retrieve trouble codes on this fella. I used to do the jumper wire routine and count flashes on GM...is there a way to do the same on the Insight?

Any clue if I can get one after market?

Thanks. I believe it's time for me to buy a service manual and a code reader and have at it . That car really owes me nothing as I've driven it for 4 years    and put more than 150 thousand miles on it (bought it with 70 and now it's just shy of 230) and the biggest thing I've ever replaced on it was a wheel bearing assembly.
Happy Holidays!

My advice for the service manual would be to look on ebay and see if you can find one used. Get the factory manual. The only way to go. If not, www.helminc.com is who printed them for honda.

Question. $0 dollars.
Answer. $9/$15 dollars.
