You most likley have a faulty fuel pump relay, I would change it out first and see if the problem persists. Below is the location.

I have tried switching the fuel pump relay with the heater relay and nothing changed for me.... this was pretty recently, the last time it did it to me... other than that i know there are a few fuses and could it even be the ecm?

yeah i guess thats what it would be there are two wires that go to the top of the sending unit to a plug and then they go back to the tank...

It may be coincidental that after disturbing the wires...the pump runs...but commonly this is an indication of a failing fuel pump. Jiggling the connector wires, will shock the pump into working. Check for a good check engifne lamp, but if it is commming on, than you'll need to test for good voltage at the fuel pump connector, if there is voltage but no fuel pump operation...repalce the pump.

Reply to RIP's Post: another thing that i have checked is i've used a test light and tested the plug that goes to the top of the tank... the one i unplug and move around... well when i tested it there was no power to the plug and when it finally got power it blew a fuse. so i think that its somewhere between the relay and the fuel pump?

rip, ok so i just spoke with my father who has been helping me diag this problem for the past couple of weeks... i explained to him what you suggested with the wire and the test light and he told me that we know for sure that when it wont start the fuel pump isnt getting any power... we know this because when we blew that fuse there was no power to the pump... and when it finally got power thats when i blew the fuse... i dont know if that changes anything, he also suggested just running another wire with a toggle switch to the fuel pump and hooking it up to an empty relay spot and turing the toggle switch on when there is no power to the pump... also does the fuel pump shut off after about 5 seconds when you first turn the key on or is it always running even when the key is in the accessory position?

so i was checkin out the wires that go to the top of the tank which i think is the sending unit. there is a red and black wire and then just a black wire... those are the wires that im always moving... the plug that houses those wires was the one that we were testing on. so when we had the test light on it and it wasnt starting there was no light and when it got power and the fuse blew we switched the fuse under the hood and on the next crank it started... im just at a total loss with this right now because i just think that when the problem would occur with our test light test being used i think the light would be off??
