hi thank you for your question hope this helps.
i did this to a Civic DX it didn't come with cruise control so I decided to add it myself. I got a basic idea of how to complete the job by studying a detailed description of how someone added cruise control to their Honda Insight. I found the job to be straight forward and simple for the most part.
I wouldn't recommend the job to anyone not familiar with how cruise control works and some electrical knowledge. This first step to this project is to purchase an after market cruise control kit. There are a number of kits available but the best equipment is made by Restore Inc. I tried to order directly from. but they don't sell to the public. Someone at Restore referred me to, Brandon distribution who's prices were good I paid $253.00 for the cruise control, RF transmitter, and civic adapter kit. My main complaint with Brandon Dist. is that they didn't tell me about a civic specific cruise control kit that Rostra makes. you need to specifically asked for this kit. Using the civic install kit the install was a breeze, read below for photos and pictures of the project.
Here you can see the connections for the speed pickup splice, the tachometer splice and the grounding point I chose. The instructions showed the location of both the speed pickup and the tachometer, unfortunately it showed the in car location of these wires and I was hoping to keep as much of the wiring as possible under the hood. So I pulled out the Mitchell manual and found where to tap into these wires in the engine compartment.
