Sent to Honda Experts June 01, 2007 11:40 a.m.

I replaced the 1st HO2 sensor I to clear P1166/P1167 alarms. The alarms cleared. At first I thought the ECM was adjusting to the new HO2 sensor. But, even after driving 50 miles, the engine hesitates intermittantly. The hesitation is most noticable at speeds of 25 to 50 mph. Every few seconds I feel a light tug as power cuts out. Is the H02 sensor bad? What should I check next?

Thank You Kyle. Before I give up and either get a new car or risk money having the dealership repair this, there is one last thing that looks amiss, and which looks like it would be easy to fix. There is a very rusted coupling in line with the fuel line. This coupling is mounted to the fire wall. The rusted coupling connects a fuel line from the back of the car to the fuel injection system on top of the engine. It has no wires connected to it, and there are no distiguisable markings. It is about half the size of a pack of cigarettes.

I have the service manual, and the rusted coupling is shown in one of the illustrations. But, it is not called out as a part anywhere in the service manual. This coupling is so rusted it appears ready to fall apart. Can you identify what this coupling is?

Also Note:
The check engine light and P1167 alarm came on again while driving to the Auto Parts store where I purchased the O2 sensor. It seemed like the hesitation went away at first when I was driving there. But, then the check egngine light came back on, and the hesitation returned. The parts store reset the alarm, and I drove 3 miles back to my office without the check engine light coming back on. But, the hesitation still persists.

Thanks for your help. I intend to pay up after this one last question.
