Hi,

As long as you have a set of ramps or jack stands, you should be able to. The convertor is bolted on. The drawback to doing it yourself is that you will have to buy a factory convertor. Aftermarket convertors are universal and have to be welded on. Check around, you might be able to get an aftermarket one put parts and labor cheaper than the cost of just a convertor from the dealer. To give you an idea, I charge $250 parts and labor for that job

Reply to eric's Post: I have been quoted $600 for a genuine Honda cat converter. (labor not included) Are non-honda replacement converters (much cheaper)an option for a d-i-y guy like me?

Hi,

Replacement convertors have to be welded in. If you have access to a welder you can do it yourself. They are not bolt-on units like the factory one. You can go to an exhaust shop and have them put in an aftermarket unit for about $250-300 Parts & Labor. Much cheaper than paying $600 for genuine Honda convertor and then doing it yourself.
