Hi,

This sounds stupid but if you press on the brake pedal are the rear brake lights coming on?

I just went out and checked and the brake lights do not come on. What do I do next?

ACCEPTED Check Mark

Sorry I didn't get right back to you.

The brake light switch mounted on the upper part of the brake pedal is faulty. That switch tells the shift release to release your shifter when you step on the brake pedal. The brake lights not coming on confirmed my guess that it was bad. They aren't too expensive and you can get them at the dealership. We usually have them in stock at my dealer.

Let me know if you need more help.

Your diagnosis was spot on. I went to check where the switch was and found a wire had come off the switch. I reattched it and everything works. Thanks!
