Hi there,

Do you know what the code is that is turning on the check engine light? This will help verify if the cat coverter is really the cause of the light

an auto parts store hooked up one of those handheld computers to it and he said the code indicated cat conv but when I told him that i put 50,000 mi on it since the light came on he said to put some fuel injector cleaner in or maybe spark plugs he turned off the light but it came back on after about 25 mi

ACCEPTED Check Mark

If you can find out the code it would really help. It is not uncommon for a Honda to need a converter, the code that indicates that is usually a P0420. That code is a cat efficiency code, which basically says the cat is not cleaning the exhaust the way it should. The only fix for that, especially with 141k is to replace it. Find out the code and we can double check it, see if the auto parts store can scan it for you again
